Read all about my experience seeing sharks and other creatures up close and personal in a shark cage at the Denver Aquarium!
Dear Bridger, I love sharks!! I want to do the shark cage, but I feel scared. I am nine years old. Is it scary? From, Shark Guy
Dear Shark Guy,
At least in my opinion, no it’s not scary. You’re in a cage, not scuba diving in the open, so they can’t and won’t attack you ( as long as you don’t touch or bother them through the holes in the cage).
But something that surprised me a little was that my dad kind of felt scared, not because of the sharks, though. It was the regulator that freaked him out, my dad says that it was just a completely different way of breathing and not being able to use his nose didn’t help. But for me, I knew it was gonna be hard (or really I mean just different) to breath because I did a scuba diving experience in Monterey Bay Aquarium with my brother in California.
If you can find the courage and overcome feeling scared, here’s what you might experience if you give it a try. Being in the water with the sharks felt exciting. I felt connected to the sharks and other creatures. I felt happy.
Physically, the water felt cold – it was wet diving instead of dry diving, so be sure to bring a change of clothes and a towel. The website doesn’t tell you that (at least not that I saw).
If you want to try the shark cage yourself, you can book it here!
